Get Involved. Make a Difference.
Every April, Texas Children’s Hospital celebrates volunteers who lend their time, talent and voice to support our mission. Volunteers make a real difference, and that’s why Cari and John Griggs chose to become Texas Children’s Online Advocates.
Cari and John first turned to us when Cari was pregnant with Gus, their youngest son. Gus had a rare lung disease that had cardiac implications and received four life-saving fetal surgeries at Texas Children’s.
Seven years later, Cari was shocked to learn that she, too, had a congenital heart condition. She was referred to Texas Children’s world-class adult congenital heart team and underwent surgery to close the hole in her heart muscle.
Cari and John then decided to have all their children tested, which revealed that their daughter, Lila, also had a hole in her heart. On the day of Lila’s surgery, multiple teams of experts confirmed that the hole was gone, and Lila no longer needed surgery.
Today, Cari and John are spreading the word about the excellent care their family received at Texas Children’s. “I will do anything that would help, and this is a simple way I can,” says Cari.
Join Cari and Texas Children’s today by becoming an Online Advocate, sharing Cari’s story or making a generous donation. Together, we can make a difference for the children and families who count on us.
