Texas Children’s Annual Bad Pants Open raises vital funds for services that go beyond the expert medical care delivered at Texas Children’s Newborn Center®. Now in its 27th year, this one-of-a-kind golf tourney pairs fun and camaraderie with truly terrible golf pants — all in support of our tiniest patients and their families. Your participation helps ensure that every NICU family receives the critical support and resources they need, so they can focus on what matters most: their baby’s healing and homecoming.

New this year
We’re thrilled to introduce AngelEye, a newly launched program in our NICUs supported by the Bad Pants Fund. This secure live-stream video system allows parents and guardians to see their NICU baby anytime, from anywhere, using their phone or personal device — helping ease the heartache of being apart. AngelEye is now available at Texas Children’s NICUs at the Main Campus (173 beds), Texas Children’s Hospital Austin (12 beds), and Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands (14 beds).

Hand to Hold: Support for every NICU family
The Bad Pants Fund also sustains the Hand to Hold program, which offers NICU families both in-person and around-the-clock support. Seven multilingual, certified Peer Support Specialists — all former NICU parents themselves — provide 70 hours of in-person support each week across our NICUs. Hand to Hold also offers 24/7 access to a free app, private online communities, virtual support groups, educational resources, podcasts, peer mentoring, and counseling.

Family-centered resources
In addition, proceeds from the Bad Pants Open continue to fund essential family-centered initiatives, including:

• Parking assistance and Lyft rides to and from the hospital
• Meal vouchers to help ease daily food costs
• Milestone beads to celebrate every step forward in a baby’s NICU journey
• Parent backpacks filled with comforting essentials and helpful resources
