When our beloved nephews, Eli and Jacob Sukin, were born with rare neurological diseases, our father, Dr. Ralph Feigin, knew we must do something to create a brighter future for these boys and for millions of children like them. In the years before his passing — and at the height of his tenure as Texas Children’s Physician-in-Chief — Dr. Feigin set out to create the Duncan Neurological Research Institute, a one-of-a-kind center of excellence designed to solve medicine’s most complex mysteries of the brain.

Today, our father would be astonished and so proud of what researchers at the Duncan NRI have been able to accomplish in just over a decade. Under the leadership of world-renowned neurogeneticist, Dr. Huda Zoghbi, the Duncan NRI has become the epicenter of solving devastating brain diseases, from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s to epilepsy and addiction. With six active clinical trials and readiness studies for conditions such as Batten disease and Angelman syndrome — and more in the pipeline — the Duncan NRI is now primed to translate their groundbreaking discoveries into effective treatments and transform patient outcomes.
