Welcome to Zain's Fundraising Page
I am Zain Balsara and I am 10 years old. Last year, when I turned 9, I really wanted to help kids with cancer. However, I didn’t have enough money, so I tried to find other ways that I could help. I found out that I could donate hair, so decided to do that. I soon realized that if I wasn't getting haircuts we were saving a lot of money. So I asked my parents if we could donate the money we had saved from getting haircuts. My parents said that I could do that and my dad said that if I got to my desired amount ($15 x 12 = $180) he would match that amount and donate that much ($180 x 2 = $360). I agreed and I got my last haircut in November, 2018. We decided that I would go without a haircut for 1 year.
Initially there was no problem, but soon after about 4 months, it got pretty annoying. It kept getting in my face while I was swimming or playing any sports. Even with that I kept thinking of what I was doing and that kept me motivated. Soon it was time to choose where to donate. I had lots of choices and Texas Children’s Hospital was one of them. About 2 weeks ago, we began making phone calls and about a week ago we came down to our final 3. We then chose Texas Children’s Hospital because it was one of the only children hospitals in Houston and it specialized in only kids which is what I wanted. So now it’s about my last month and I will definitely donate $360. I am also hoping that my hair is long enough so I can make a bigger difference.
