Butterfly Bereavement Room at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women
Thank you for making a donation in memory of Ella Grace to the Butterfly Bereavement Room at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women.
Butterflies hold a special meaning as they are a symbol of resurrection, hope, change and life. We are so honored that you are helping us to spread that hope to other grieving families. This butterfly room allows families to have privacy and spend their last moments with their babies in a beautiful, soothing environment. This room opened for patient use in June 2017. It is designed like a nursery and has a crib, comfortable seating for the parents, and a baby bath tub. An armoire is also stocked with gowns and blankets for the babies.
Words can’t express how much we wish we had a room like this available when we lost our daughter, Ella Grace, in September 2015. We would have loved the gift of extra time with her; time to give her a bath in a real baby bath tub, and more time for our family and friends to come and say their good-byes. The room where Ella passed had such a cold, sterile feel to it and we felt rushed in those final moments with her. It would have been such a blessing to have been able to spend time with Ella in a room designed as a nursery, especially since we would never be able to bring her home to her own nursery.
Your donation will help us with ongoing maintenance costs as well as help us re-stock the room with new gowns and blankets. We are truly grateful for all of the prayers and support that our family has received over the last year. We pray that this room will be a blessing and provide comfort to other grieving families for many years to come.
With gratitude,
Katie and Phillip Hurlbut
