Pediatric Advanced Care Team
The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Texas Children's Hospital provides palliative care to children and families facing serious, often life threatening illness. The team provide medical, nursing, spiritual, psychosocial and emotional support to patients and their families both in the hospital and at home. The goal is to opimize the quality of life for these patients, help families navigate complex medical decisions and assist with developing care plans that incorporate familiy goals and values. The vast majority of care is not covered by health insurance and requires significant support from outside sources.
The team also coordinates bereavement support for families of children who sadly died of illness or injury. An annual candlelighting event is hosted to honor and remember children who have died too soon, provide support groups and parent mentoring.
Funds will be used to help support patients and families as they face their many hurdles and to continue to provide needed bereavement support to grieving families.
