Something MAGical
Something MAGical was created by 3 moms who found out their sons had Spina Bifida during a routine 20 week anatomy scan. After finding out this diagnosis, they found that fetal surgery repair of the lesion site caused by Spina Bifida could improve their children's outcomes in the areas of mobility and hydrocephalus. The women all decided to undergo fetal surgery to give their babies the best life possible. All 3 women are from different walks of life, but connected during hospital stays following fetal surgery and have remained close. They will continue to walk the Spina Bifida journey together and have enjoyed seeing the results of fetal surgery as their babies have grown these last few months. They wanted to create a fundraiser to raise money for families going through fetal surgery for spina bifida repair and for research for fetal intervention at Texas Children's. Texas Children's Women's Pavilion nurses, doctors, and other staff hold a special place in all of our hearts and always will. Something MAGical was deemed an appropriate fundraiser name after one of the women stated "our boys are something magical". The beginning of the word "magical" is capitalized due to our babies names being Maverick, Andrew, and Graham. We can't wait to continue this MAGical journey with our families and try to make a difference in other people's lives through fundraising in an attempt to raise awareness and help other women like us.
