Give a Heart, Save a Life: Support Pediatric Cardiology in Malawi

This year, for her birthday, Dr. Amy Sanyahumbi, a pediatric cardiologist with Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, is asking for something truly meaningful: your support for Global Heart, Texas Children’s and Baylor’s pediatric cardiology program in Malawi.
Dr. Sanyahumbi is one of only two pediatric cardiologists serving Malawi, a country of over 20 million people, where more than 40% of the population is between the ages of 1 and 14.
Dr. Sanyahumbi has been working in Malawi since 2006 and living there since 2018. Thanks to Global Heart, the public central hospital has transformed from having no access to pediatric echocardiography or cardiology consult services to establishing a robust, Malawian-led cardiology clinic. This work has improved patient outcomes and saved countless lives. She also leads efforts to ensure children with heart disease receive the life-saving surgery they desperately need.
The Challenge & Opportunity
With your support, Global Heart can sustain and expand its impact by building a stronger, more effective pediatric cardiology program in Malawi. Texas Children’s and Baylor are committed to growing this life-saving mission, not only in Malawi but across other global sites in need.
This work is personal to Dr. Sanyahumbi; she has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of access to care. With your generosity, we can give more children a future filled with possibilities.
