Camp Pump It Up offers a transformative experience for children aged 8 to 12 affected by congenital heart defects. Hosted at the barrier-free Camp For All in Burton, TX, the camp has served approximately 120 campers annually since its founding in 2000. Camp provides these children with the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges—those who have undergone heart transplants, multiple surgeries, and other complex cardiac conditions.

Through activities like zip-lining, horseback riding, and a dance, Camp Pump It Up! fosters an inclusive environment where kids can enjoy typical camp experiences without feeling different. Medical teams, including Texas Children’s physicians, nurses, and therapists, volunteer their time to ensure each child’s health needs are met throughout the weekend.

Funding is critical for the success of the camp, helping cover costs for transportation to and from camp, insurance for the buses, and expenses for food, the venue and all camp activities. With a focus on accessibility, all costs for individual campers are underwritten to ensure that no child faces financial barriers. The camp is free for all participants, including siblings, and many former campers return to serve as counselors, further strengthening the camp’s community.
