Pate Family Fund for Primary Immunodeficiency Patient and Staff Advancement
This is about the power and compassion of kids helping kids.
40. years ago, I graduated from John Foster Dulles High School and was diagnosed with a primary immune deficiency. I later developed a second one. At the time, little was known about these diseases, but I had the honor of being under the care of Dr. William Shearer — the physician for David Vetter, who was more famously known as "The Bubble Boy" — and many others who have supported me to this day.
However, today isn't about me. The Miracle Club at Dulles High School raises $5,000 each year to donate to Texas Children's Hospital. This year they chose the Pate Family Fund for Primary Immunodeficiency Nursing and Patient Advancement. They picked my people!!!!
This fund was established 10 years ago to celebrate my 30-year survival and allows nurses to attend conferences without incurring costs. It also covers essential needs for children, such as bone marrow transplant meds and hearing aids.
Because it is a restricted fund, it does not qualify for matching.
So, what’s the ask? Donate any amount and let's match the awesome work these kids have started.
We need to match this $5K donation for these awesome kids!
